Story

BalaKrishna’s new film under ‘Sri Keerthi Combines’ banner was launched on August 27th at Rama Naidu Studios, Hyderabad.




The movie will be produced by ML Kumar Chowdary and Kalyan malik will be scoring the music while Vijay C Kumar handles cinematography.

Amidst huge expectations and chaotic atmosphere to procure a ticket, I walked in to the theater to watch the most awaited flick ‘Komaram Puli’. Much to the dismay I experienced an old formula scene in the introduction. The pregnant lady…police station..police atrocity…Murugan temple…divine light…mother teaching left-right marching to the growing baby in her womb…baby responding to that…..labor pains…villain chasing…lady falling into a flowing water body…giving birth to the hero!!! That is good way to pull mass pulse, but I wondered if I were watching a mythological film!!!



The grown up hero (Pawan Kalyan) introduces himself with a ‘heavy dosed action scene’ typically branded as South Indian masala. Pawan Kalyan is looking good in uniform but his body language didn’t match perfectly to that of a tough cop.



To say the story in brief, Puli (Pawan Kalyan) is the son of a betrayed mother (Saranya). The mother nurtures him with valor and makes him a police officer. He is very sincere and tough. He saves the life of Indian Prime Minister Samarasimha Rao (Girish Karnad) from international terrorists when the latter visits Bangkok. PM felicitates him amidst entire Police Community, but Puli asks him to give a few tough police officers to bring change in the nation and people and keep the pride of India high. PM agrees for that and introduces ‘Puli Team’. What Puli Team does to society? That forms major chunk of the movie. In the narration, the main theme gets connected to the family vengeance of Puli. Climax reveals to Puli that his father was killed by a few selfish police officers and a mafia kingpin Al Saleem (Manoj Bajpai). How Puli traps Al Saleem forms the final twist.



Pawan’s lengthy dialogues are like puzzles. His rendition is also swift although at times sounded like that of Chiranjeevi fully. Many times, he tried to imitate Rajni Kanth in delivering fast paced dialogues. But he missed clarity in that attempt. The dialogues are also didactic. Pawan Kalyan sounded like an emotional professor in taking classes but not as cop. Director should be blamed for that and not Pawan.



Above all, it’s only SJ Suryah who spoiled the dish completely without proper depth in narration.



There are innumerable flaws and gaps in the film. I didn’t understand the uniform that Pawan Kalyan wears-sometimes khakhi and sometimes olive green. Ali’s comedy is mediocre and miniscule. Manoj Bajpai’s over action as villain diluted the seriousness.





Coming to the best part in the movie-



* Nikesha Patel is the right choice for the film and she looked really pleasant through out. It is she who can hook the audiences to screen to some extent.

* Sharanya as mother is superb. Her dialogues are impressive. She could act with proper balance in every scene.

* The other scene-stealer in the movie is Shriya. Her item song is good but the role is very short lived.

* Cinematography and graphics work deserve great commendation.



On a whole, the content and narrative style sounded normal although the production values and technical adroitness are impressive.



I hardly understood why such huge sum was shelled out in making a movie without proper content. First half is average while second half makes audience look at their watches. It’s a 2 hr 40 min marathon that ends up with suffocation.



Sign-Off Note: Pawan Kalyan keeps on saying a dialogue about ‘sankalpam’. This movie can be watched till the end only by those who wish to sit with ‘sankalpam’.

Komaram Puli hit screens on Sept 9th

 Pawan Kalyan’s film ‘Komaram Puli’ is going to hit screens worldwide on September 9th. This is a confirmed by the producer Singanamala Ramesh himself. Right now the post production works are still taking place. As you all know, A R Rahman’s music is already a very big hit. Pawan is playing the role of a police officer and a fresh face Nikeesha Patel will be seen as his love interest in this flick. The movie is an action packed film directed by S J Suryah. Sumanth-Priyamani-Vimala Raman film

Sumanth’s film with Vimala Raman and Priyamani as his costars is currently taking shape at Hyderabad under the direction of Viji Sipivishta. This untitled film is jointly being produced by Gauti Harinath and Kumar Brothers under Kumar Brothers Cinema banner.


The producers informed the media, “This is a romantic family entertainer with new story and screenplay. Sumanth is playing a role that is said to be the first of its kind in his film career. Naresh’s ‘Kathi Kantha Rao’ Ready to Hit

Allari Naresh’s yet another rib tickling comedy entertainer ‘Kathi Kantha Rao’ has completed its talkie part at Ramoji Film City and getting ready to have its song picturization shortly in abroad.


It is being directed by EVV Satyanarayana and it is the 9th film in both EVV and Naresh’s combo.It is produced under Big B Productions by Eedara Srinivas, Eedpuganti Poornachandra Rao, Eedara Ravi Kumar and Eedpuganti Subrahmanyeswara Rao. Kamna Jethmalani is pairing with Naresh for the second time in this film. Earlier they both worked together for ‘Bendu Apparao RMP’. Mallikarjun is scoring the music while A Vijay Kumar handles the camera.

Anthapuram’ sequel soon

It looks like hero Jagapathi Babu is turning towards in doing sequel films. It is already known that he has been working from a long time that for ‘Gaayam 2’, a sequel to ‘Gaayam’ which was directed by RGV. Now the latest news is that he is planning to do a sequel to ‘Anthapuram’ which was directed by creative director Krishna Vamsi and starred Soundarya and dialogue King Sai Kumar along with Prakash Raj in the lead. Jagapathi Babu has also done much prominent role in the film. The hero himself said that he had already penned the script for this sequel and the other details of the film will be announced soon. The project is likely to go on sets shortly.




On speaking about his current sequel film ‘Gaayam 2’, Jagapathi Babu said that this was his dream character and he performed much better in ‘Gaayam 2’ than ‘Gaayam’.

Happy Birthday to Nagarjuna

Nagarjuna, son of veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, made his debut appearance in films with ‘Vikram’, a remake of Bollywood blockbuster ‘Hero’. Born on August 29, 1959, he completed his degree in the US. He became popular by playing a tragedy hero in ‘Majnu’. Later, he gained a mass hero status with ‘Siva’ directed by Ramgopal Varma, which gave both the hero and the director a good break. He married Amala, who paired with him in ‘Siva’. Nagarjuna also made his debut in Bollywood with the Hindi version of ‘Siva’ and became popular all over India.




Nagarjuna stared in around 70 films since last 23 years and he’s the son of a legendary Telugu actor, Akkineni Nageswara Rao,. After completing his masters at the University of Louisiana, he returned to India and took up acting in 1986.



Nagarjuna received several awards like National Film Award for Special Jury for the film Annamayya in 1998, National Film Award for Best Feature Film for Ninne Pelladutha in 1996, Nandi Award for Best Actor for Annamayya in 1997, Nandi Award for Best Actor for Santosham in 2002, Swarna(Gold) Nandi Award for Best Feature Film for Manmadhudu in 2002, Nandi Award for Best Actor for Sri Ramadasu in 2006, Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for Shiva in 1990, Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for Annamayya in 1997.

A long awaited straight Telugu flick from a brilliant Director called Ram Gopal varma’s “ Katha Screenplay Darskatvam Appalraju” was launched today morning (August 27, 2010) at Annapoorna Studios in Hyderabad. This is one of the unique launch ceremonies held in Tollywood in the recent past. Former glamour Queen Sridevi ,attended this function as the Chief Guest.Whatever Varma does, it will be a news by default. Even in today’s “Appalraju” movie launch also, few of interesting things happened which no one would have thought about it.




Traditional process of Clapping the board at Muhurtham Shot is also done in a unique style.Usually it will be clapped once at opening of any movie launching events. But Varma made Nagarjuna clap the board first, then calling it as a second take, he made Sridevi clap for the second time. As soon as she clapped the board, he said shot O.K and went on saying “If Sridevi claps the board,automatically shot will come out perfect “. Which again shows varma’s un-ending admiration towards his ‘ever before-never after’ dream girl , one and only Sridevi.



K Raghavendra Rao, Srinu Vytla, Gunashekar and others were present. Several other Celebes like Naga Chaitanya, Sumanth, Rana, Nithin and the film’s hero Sunil and heroine Colors Swathi and several producers and directors graced the occasion.



Interestingly, a song from the film was also played on the dais which goes on criticising the contemporary directors including K Raghavendra Rao, Vinayak, Sreenu Vytla, Kodi Ramakrishna, Gunashekar, etc. Gunashekar and Raghavendra Rao kept on laughing at the remarks. The song is written by lyricist Kaluva Sai and composed by noted music director Koti.
