Movie Review: Konchem Istam Konchem Kashtam

Koncham Istam Koncham Kashtam has nothing novel to boast about, it’s another formula story retold innumerable times. How does the audience react to the recycling of such ideas? If the narration is interesting, if performances are good and the length of the film is reasonably tolerable.
True to it’s title movie buffs will like the movie a little and find it a little difficult to sit through. The story starts with a flirtatious Siddhu (Siddarth) falling for Geeta Subramanyam (Tamanna) who moves to the city for higher studies. A father’s pet, Geeta wants her parent’s approval for her wedding. Subramanyam (Nazar) doesn’t approve of the alliance but imposes a condition.
Post interval, it’s a herculean task for Siddhu to unite his divorced parents Prakash Raj and Ramya Krishna. So the film strives to strike a balance between a young budding romance and differences, understanding and reconcilation of parents.
Those who have watched the super hit Bommarillu more than once will not be enamoured by this film, as the dialogues sound clichéd, especially the ones between Tamanna and her father. The film is too lengthy and post interval the lead pair are obsessed plotting and planning to bring Ramya Krishna and Prakash Raj together. Some dialogues towards the climax are melodramatic but the déjà vu feeling acts as an impediment.
Siddarth is his usual cute and vivacious self and Tamanna with her flawless skin and improvised expressions is a treat to watch. All those who have been tired of seeing Jayasudha in mommy roles will find Ramya interesting. She has given a studied and a controlled performance.
For Prakash Raj it’s a cake walk and Brahmanandam brings the house down with his hilarious act as cricketer Gacchibowli Diwakar. Venu Madhav impresses as the hero’s best buddy. It has sweet music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and good visuals but no good surprises. Enjoy it while you can…
