Fondly referred to as India’s Spielberg, Mani Ratnam is a sensational director who touches social themes daringly and makes thought provoking movies. He holds credits for some of the best movies he made in Hindi and Tamil which were also released in Telugu at times. After his close-to-life portrayal of Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani in ‘Guru’ starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, he is now making ‘Ravan’.
The movie is being made in three languages Hindi, Telugu and Tamil simultaneously. The plotline of the movie is based on an episode from the famous epic Ramayana.
Starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai and Prithvi Raj in the main cast, the movie is fast shaping up in various exotic locales. The movie’s title for Telugu and Tamil was in consideration for awhile and now it has been said it will be titled ‘Ashokavanam’.
Vikram plays the lead in Telugu and Tamil while Abishek Bachchan plays the same role in Hindi. Rumors abuzz say Vikram plays as the antagonist in the Hindi version.
Recently, a song was filmed in Jhansi featuring 500 participants on screen.
