It looks like there will not be many big budget releases for the upcoming festive season in Tollywood. Actors like Mahesh Babu, Balakrishna, NTR, Vishnu and Pawan Kalyan are all taking their time deciding on the fine details of their upcoming films. While the makers of Mahesh Babu’s next film have still not zeroed in on the leading lady the VV Vinayak directed NTR starrer is also yet to get over the blocks for reasons best known to them. Same is the case with Pawan Kalyan. He had started shooting for Puli recently, but his brother’s impending political entry seems to have had a grounding effect on the proceedings. Balakrishna also has not yet made up his mind about his next venture after the debacle of the recently released Pandurangadu. The reason according to sources in the industry is the non-availability of top-notch actresses as they are too busy with assignments elsewhere. Well looks like the ladies are finally calling the shots in Tollywood!

VISHAL'S SALUTE ON AUGUST 15TH

Social service activities to mark Mahesh's birthday

Mahesh Babu's fans organized a press meet at Basheerbagh Press Club, Hyderabad. The All India Mahesh-Krishna Sena has planned many social service activities from August 2nd to 9th to mark Mahesh Babu's birthday on August 9. Social activities include blood and eye donation camps, distribution of books to schoolchildren and planting of saplings, according to sources. A week-long screening of Mahesh Babu's films is also planned. A felicitation for freedom fighters is also being planned.

Venkatesh excited about Krish’s film

Venkatesh is back from USA after a hectic month long shooting of his film titled Chintakayala Ravi that also stars Anushka. "It was all work. We worked almost 24 x 7, as we had to wind up our project, slated for a Dasara release. Most of the film was shot in the beautiful locales there," says Venkatesh, who looks fresh as ever despite the hard slog.

While others would have put their feet up after the hard grind, the actor is busy reading scores of scripts. Sources inform us that he recently has finalized one. When we asked him, the actor was only too happy to confirm. "Yes, I will be doing a film with director Radha Krishna (Krish) of Gamyam fame. I was impressed with his work in Gamyam and I am looking forward to it," he says.

Mallepuvvu

Shooting of 'Mallepuvvu' directed by V Samudra and produced by Mohan Vadlapatla on the banner of Sri Samudra Silverscreens with Bhoomika in the title role was almost complete but for the canning of a song.

Muralikrishna is playing the male lead in the flick.

Addressing the media at Prasad Labs recently, Samudra says, 'The film 'Mallepuvvu' was one of the blockbusters and a milestone in Nata Bhushana Sobhanbabu's career. After we announced the title, Sobhanbabu called me up once and complimented me for choosing it for our film. We invited him for the muhurat of the movie, but he could not come due to some preoccupations.

Ravibabu's 'Dooram' with two heroines

Ravibabu, who made his debut into direction with a hit film like 'Allari', had recently directed a suspense thriller 'Anasuya' with Bhoomika in the lead.

Even as that film was on sets, he had a chance to narrate another interesting storyline to Bhoomika and impressed her.

Having a fascination to do heroine-oriented films, with 'Missamma' and 'Anasuya' to her credit, she came forward to produce on her own banner Downtown Movies, with her husband Bharat Thakur as the producer.

However, the surprise entry is Charmme, who was also a specialist in heroine-centric films with films like 'Anukokunda Oka Roju and Mantra'.

The film titled 'Dooram' is most likely to go to sets very soon.

Simbhu-Nayan together again

They were always open about their relationship — Simbhu had even gone on record to say that he was in love with Nayan, and she didn’t deny it either. But when they broke up, it certainly wasn’t in an amicable manner.
Since then, the duo have been single, and while Simbhu tried to launch a movie to mirror his pain (Kettavan was rumoured to be based on his break-up with Nayan), she went on to become one of the leading actresses in the Tamil and Telugu film industries.
However, it now looks like Simbhu is all set to woo his lady-love again, and Nayan is not shunning him either. The two were recently spotted getting cosy, hanging out like old friends with a few colleagues, all popular stars.
A young actor, who happened to be present that evening, narrated the entire episode to this newspaper.
"Nayantara and her friends Trisha, Vishal and Tollywood hero Navdeep were partying at Pasha, after which they went to a restaurant. The group was in high spirits — laughing and joking, when Simbhu landed on the scene. But it was evident that he had been invited, as the gang welcomed him with hoots and cheers. Although Nayan appeared startled at first, she composed herself and greeted him as well. After exchanging hugs, Simbhu pulled Nayan from her seat, a few minutes later and both vanished from the scene for half-an-hour."
Another source said that the pair went back to her hotel room while Trisha, Vishal and Navdeep continued making merry. Apparently, all of them had set up the meeting and when the two lovebirds returned, there was a lot of cheering. Simbhu left the hotel soon after this, but Nayan chose to stick around.
The pair’s romance dates back to when they worked together for the film Vallavan. But after things soured, she stopped coming to Chennai and concentrated only on Tollywood for a year. Since then, Simbhu has been trying to patch up with her. The buzz was that Nayan had even refused to meet him when he tried to make it up to her on the sets of Tulasi at Hyderabad. Similarly, during the film industry’s fast over the Hogenakkal issue, Simbhu deliberately sat next to her but Nayan refused to even look at him. But now after their ‘reunion’, one hopes that the talented actress will shift base back to Chennai and do more Tamil films.

Srija pregnant before marriage?

Now, on July 5, 2008, Srija gave birth to a baby girl. Which means, it is not even nine months since they got married. Yet, she delivered a baby. It must be, therefore, a premature birth, or an early pregnancy before marriage. Going by the health condition of the baby, it is evident that Srija was pregnant before the marriage itself.

The title for this venture is said to have been titled 'Kshatriyudu'.

So the focus has now shifted on whether NBK did the right thing by going in for a debutante rather than relying on the old war horse. As such he has not been having that great a hit when it comes to his films so many people have started betting their numbers on whether 'Kshatriyudu' will really have the punch in it to give Balayya the deserved success or was he better off if he had opted 'Sadhu'.

'Maska'- the complete entertainment package

The young and upcoming hero Ram is firing up all his cylinders for his forthcoming romantic movie 'Maska'. The talented leading man shot into the spotlight with immensely successful movies like 'Devadasu' and the movie 'Ready' which is currently racing to the top in cinema halls.

Bhavana in her second Telugu movie

Bhavana, the enterprising actress from Mollywood has signed her second Telugu film, titled 'Hero' with young actor Nitin as the hero.

After her debut in Tollywood with 'Ontari' opposite Gopichand, which was not a big earner, the actress had been concentrating on her Tamil career for some time.

‘Hero' to be produced by Chiranjeevi's brother in law Manyam Ramesh under the banner of Manyam Entertainments will have popular villain GV Sudhakar as director. Ramya Krishnan, Brahmanandam, Kovai Sarala, Kotta Sreenivasa Rao will appear with Bhavana in this full-fledged comedy film.

Bhavana's only Mollywood film that will be on theatres this year seems to be AMMA's multistarrer 'Twenty: 20’ in which she substituted Meera Jasmine, as the heroine to Dileep.

In Kollywood, her film ‘Jeyam Kondaan’ with Vinay is scheduled for an immediate release.

Chiru is now a grandpa

Megastar Chiranjeevi has become a grandfather for the first time when his second daughter Srija who had married her longtime boyfriend Sireesh Bharadwaj gave birth to a baby girl.

Srija gave birth at the Parporewala nursing home situated in east maradpalli, Hyderabad. Wife of Chiru, Surekha, Allu Aravind and Ram Charan visited the hospital and met Sreeja.

Both the mother and baby are doing well. Sireesh Bharadwaj had married Srija at Aarya Samaj ashram last year.

SUMAN'S NEW AVATAR - DIRECTOR

Hero turned villain Suman is going to take his next avatar as Director. TFPC secretary Katragadda Prasad announced that he would be making the film. He said the film will be launched by year end. Two decades ago, Prasad produced Suman's blockbuster Bandipotu (1988) when the hero was caught in the court tangles. After that, the same producer continuously made seven more films with Suman, mostly hits. He said he had introduced Nagma and Sanghavi to the film industry. "I also introduced Rajamouli, Seenu Vytla and Ramprasad as assistant directors with my films," Prasad said.

SHRIYA IN MARMAYOGI?

After co-starring superstar Rajinikanth in Sivaji, Shriya will be seen with actor Kamal Haasan in his upcoming period film Marmayogi. Insiders reveal that the actress, who has only one film - Kandaswamy in hand, is trying hard to get into Kamal’s camp.

Since the story is set in seventh century and is about war between two dynasties, Kamal plans to shoot the war sequences in Switzerland to maintain secrecy. The film will have lot of graphics especially for the war scenes and numerous Hollywood technicians will be a part of this big budget project.
